Popular R&B singer Young JV is bringing a new sound and unique music styles in his debut album under Star Records aptly titled “Doin’ It Big.”

According to the singer-actor, who also performs in ABS-CBN’s top-rating Sunday musical variety show “ASAP 2012,” his first album in his new recording label is extra-special for him as it presents the listeners everything that he can do as an artist.

“We worked on it for a year and we basically did a lot of styles of music that the youth and young adults will surely appreciate–from hip hop, R&B, acoustic, house, and more. The 4th PMPC Star Awards for Music awarding ceremony was held on September 9 at the Meralco Theater in Ortigas, Pasig. The event, organized by the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) was hosted by Xian Lim, Maja Salvador and Pops Fernandez.

GLOC 9: SIRENA (feat EBE DANCEL)

Premiere rapper GLOC-9 is mighty proud of his new album release "MKNM: Mga Kwento Ng Makata," his first under Universal Records.

"I have worked very hard for this album," says Gloc-9. "Before, I would record albums for about two months. For MKNM: Mga Kwento Ng Makata, it took me around six months."

He adds that he is ultimately satisfied with the album, which includes collaborations with some of the biggest names in the industry -- Chito Miranda, Bamboo, Ebe Dancel, Jay Durias, Billy Crawford, Maychelle Baay of Moonstar 88, among others.

"I have always been fond of stories of other people," adds the rapper. "This album contains various stories from people from all walks of life."

Gloc-9 admits being super proud of the album's single "Sirena," which talks about the story of a responsible gay man. The song also features Ebe Dancel.

"I think this is the first time that a song about a gay man is presented in a first person's point of view," explains Gloc-9. "I worked very hard on this song for it not to be offending to anyone."

The music video of "Sirena" also boasts of Boy Abunda's participation.

The rapper also adds that "MKNM: Mga Kwento Ng Makata" marks a new chapter in his career as this is his first release under Universal Records, where he joins its elite roster of artists like Jose Mari Chan, Gary Valenciano, Ogie Alcasid, Regine Velasquez, Parokya Ni Edgar, Christian Bautista, Kamikazee, Sponge Cola, Callalily, Sam Concepcion, among others.

"I am very thankful that Universal welcomed me into their stable," concludes Gloc-9. "I am looking forward to doing more projects with my new label."

KARL VILLUGA was named grand winner of the first Philippine Popular Music Festival on Saturday, July 14, at the PICC Plenary Hall.

He received the grand prize of P1 million in cash and a trophy as his inspirational song “Bawat Hakbang” was chosen as the winner of the very first Philippine Popular (PhilPOP) Music Festival Sunday night.
